BEFORE YOU START
Know the limits.
JPEG and WebP encoding is lossy. PNG quality is fixed by the browser; use smaller dimensions to reduce it. A target is a goal, not a guarantee.
Transformed images are re-encoded from oriented pixels. Source EXIF metadata is removed; colour may change. Rename-only preserves bytes and metadata. Animation is rejected.
